The calendar includes all 12 months from July 2025 to June 2026 on a single page, making it easy to see your entire school year at once.

This printable calendar was created with homeschooling families in mind, but it can work just as well for anyone who could use an adaptable year-at-a-glance calendar.

At the bottom of the calendar, there is an area to add your own color-coded legend. It has 8 small boxes. Use as many as you need, giving each its own unique color.

Customizable Homeschool Calendar

If you’re using it as a homeschooling calendar for the year, your legend might include things like:

  • winter and spring breaks
  • field trip days
  • co-op days
  • exam days
  • special seasonal projects (like apple picking in fall, maple syrup in spring)
  • the days of your child’s out of the home activities, like sports, music, or dance classes
  • dates of any government requirements like portfolio deadlines, mid-term reports, etc.
  • any important events planned, like weddings, parties, etc.

You’ll also want to include:

  • the first day of school
  • last day of school
  • semester or term start / end
  • curriculum change / transition date

I used open and closed square brackets to show this on my daughter’s homeschool calendar.

Having everything on a one-page school calendar will help you and your children visualize the entire year. This will help you prioritize tasks and allocate time effectively.

How to Customize Your 2025-2026 Calendar

To customize the calendar you have 2 options:

  1. print and then manually customize
  2. use Adobe Acrobat to make some customizations and then print and color the boxes manually

Option #1 – Print & Manually Customize

This option is the easiest. Print the calendar as it is.

Then, with a pen, you can write the text of your legend beside each of the little boxes.

Afterwards, grab up to 8 different color highlighters, markers, or pencil crayons. Assign each square of your key a different color.

Then follow your legend and color the squares that represent the dates in the calendar.

Option #2 – Using Adobe Acrobat to Customize

Before printing the calendar, you have the option to add some customizations.

This editable PDF calendar has a few handy spots to help you make it your own. It has 10 editable text fields:

  • Top of the page: There are two fillable boxes where you can type in your child’s name, your homeschool’s name, or a school year title like “Grade 4 – Emily”
  • Bottom of the page: Eight small editable squares where you can create your own color-coded legend or key.

If your PDF documents open in Adobe Acrobat, you have everything needed for this option. So after downloading the PDF below, open it in Adobe Acrobat.

Then click in any of the 10 text fields, and type in your text.

When you’re done, you can print it.

Once it’s printed, manually color each square of your legend a different color. Then use those same colors to highlight the calendar dates that apply.

There’s no one right way to use this calendar; that’s the beauty of it!
