Preschoolers will love this free printable b is for bee craft.
It’s a fun alphabet worksheet that’s ideal for kindergarten children learning the lowercase letter b.
It begins as a preschool color-by-number activity. Children will practice number recognition from 1 to 3.
After coloring all the parts of the bumble bee, kids will create the bee by putting together the letters that make up the word bee, and then adding wings, antennae, legs, and an eye.
How to Make This Letter B Craft
Gather the supplies needed and follow the steps below to make the b is for bee craft with your preschoolers.
Only a few basic arts and crafts supplies are needed:
- crayons (or pencil crayons) – a yellow, black, and gray crayon (the 24 Crayola crayons pack has all 3 colors)
- glue stick
- pair of scissors
- white sheet of construction paper
- color by number craft printed on 1 page of white letter size paper – see file below to download PDF
The letter B craft can be made in 4 easy steps.
Step 1 – Color by number activity
Children only need 3 crayons to complete this color by number: 1 for yellow, 2 for black, and 3 for gray.
Step 2 – Cut out the letters and insect body parts
Then they can practice their scissor skills and cut out the 9 parts of the bee. They only need to cut out the outer edge of the parts. The holes in the lowercase b’s and e’s do not need to be cut out.
Step 3 – Assemble the bumble bee
Next, they need to build the bee by putting all of their pieces in the correct spot. Preschoolers can look at the template of the finished bee craft to see where each piece goes.
Step 4 – Glue the bee on a white construction paper
Once the bee is built, it’s time to glue it on a sheet of white construction paper, landscape orientation.
