Letter N Beginning Sound Worksheet
In this beginning sound activity, kids will look at a page filled with different pictures and color only the ones that begin with the /n/ sound.
For example, they will color pictures like “nest,” “nurse,” and “narwhal” while leaving others uncolored.
The letter N coloring page has 32 different images to sound out, 18 of them to color.
The kindergarten worksheet is a fun way to help children identify initial sounds and build phonemic awareness skills.
Letter N Phonics Worksheet
This next letter N worksheet is ideal for 1st graders. It will ask kids to listen for the /n/ sound in different parts of a word.
The printable has 12 different pictures of multi-syllable words. Underneath each picture are 2 or 3 boxes, depending on the number of syllables in its word.
After sounding out the word, kids will mark an X in the box that contains the /n/ sound.
For example, there’s a picture of a unicorn.
The first step is to sound out the word. Children might find it helpful to lightly clap while saying each part of the word.

The N sound can be heard in the 2nd and third syllables, so kids will need to draw an X in the 2nd and 3rd boxes underneath its image.
It’s a great way to combine phonics practice with syllable awareness, helping children become more confident readers and spellers.
