I wanted to teach my 6 year old some mapping skills. I told her we were going to pretend to be pirates and go on a backyard treasure hunt. The first step would be learning how to draw a treasure map for kids. The theme of this months Poppins Book Nook is "Countries Around The World".  The children's book I choose is one of my favourites: "The Day The Crayons Came Home". In the story, a little boy named Duncan get's a strange stack of postcards in the mail from some of his crayons that he forgot about or lost over the years.  Some of those crayons sent him postcards from various countries around the world.
