How the Crayon Holder Works
Each card includes a small crayon holder attached to the design.
Here’s how kids put it together:
- Color the card (kids can also leave it blank for their friend to color)
- Write a name or message on the card.
- Cut out the card.
- Carefully cut along the dashed lines on the crayon holder. Parents might need to help with this step.
- Slide three crayons through the slots.
- Give it to a friend!
Once the crayons are removed, the card can be reused as a bookmark, making it a fun keepsake instead of a one-time activity.
Alternatively, if you don’t want to use the crayon holder on the card, it’s very easy to cut it off. In this case, the giver of the friendship card can color the card before giving it to the recipient.
Teacher & Parent Tips
- Print on cardstock for sturdier cards, especially if kids will use them as bookmarks.
- Let kids choose the three crayons they want to give, it adds a thoughtful, personal touch.
- For younger students, pre-cut the outer card and let kids focus on coloring and inserting the crayons.
- These pair nicely with a garden, plant, or kindness-themed lesson.
