Kindergarten Spring Word Search

Get young kids excited for the season spring with this kindergarten spring word search.

The printable word search is fun (and educational) for preschool or kindergarten.

It’s free to download and can easily be printed from your home or classroom printer.

There’s a color and black and white version to choose from. You can also choose to have the puzzle’s letters to be uppercase or lowercase.

Difficulty Level

This is an easy beginner level word search ideal for young children who are new to word searches, especially kindergarteners and preschoolers.

Kids don’t need to be able to read to do this puzzle as each word has a picture beside it showing them what the word is. 

Words to Find

The spring themed word search has 10 hidden words for kids to find and circle. Most of the words are simple 3 or 4 letter spring themed words. Words like:

1. bee
2. bird
3. boot
4. egg
5. frog
6. leaf
7. nest
8. rain
9. sun
10. worm

The spring words are hidden in a 6 X 8 grid of large print letters. 

The words are easy to find.

They can be found horizontally in the direction we read (from left to right) or vertically (from top to bottom). There are no diagonal, backwards or upside down words.

Educational & Fun Learning Activity

The word search puzzle is a fun letter recognition activity. Kids will get to practice identifying and finding the different letters of the alphabet that make up each word.

And you can choose whether you want your child to practice with uppercase or lowercase letters. There’s a version for each.

Helps Build Reading Skills

The kindergarten level word search also helps kids build reading skills. Children will be reading the word to find and then reading it again when they find the word in the puzzle.

To help kids learning to read, each word to find has a small picture beside it to help kids learn to read it.

The printable pdf contains 4 versions of the puzzle to choose from. You can choose to print in:

1. color with uppercase letters
2. color with lowercase letters
3. black and white (to save on ink) with uppercase letters
4. black and white with lowercase letters

An answer page is also included.

For those that choose to print out the black and white version of the word puzzle, children will be able to have fun coloring all the pictures.
