This riddle-style activity encourages kids to think critically while applying what they already know about the planets.

Name and Order of Planets Worksheet

The next worksheet focuses on remembering the names of the eight planets and placing them in order from the Sun.

Kids will:

  • identify each illustrated planet
  • write its name
  • number the planets 1–8 based on their order from the Sun
A printable name and order of planets worksheet. There are color illustrations of the 8 planets, out of order. Beside each image is a line for kids to write the name of its planet. Beside the line is a horizontal oval for kids to number the planets from 1st to 8th in order from the Sun.

This page is perfect for helping students remember the correct sequence of the planets.

Planets of the Solar System Worksheet

The final page packs in a lot of learning. Students will need to identify the correct planet that matches each clue.

For example, which planet in our solar system is the largest, and which is the smallest? Which planets do not have moons?

There’s also a small section on planets with moons. It’s a good way to introduce the solar system’s moons without overwhelming kids with too many numbers or complex details.

And which planets have rings? The planets worksheet includes a mini chart with some details about each planet’s rings.

To add some fun, the worksheet includes 2 space themed mazes.
