This winter word search is designed with 1st grade students in mind, but it also works well for:

  • kindergarten students as an alphabet activity
  • 2nd graders looking for a quick and easy winter activity

It’s an easy level word search. To help beginner readers, each word is accompanied by an image that shows what it is.

Since the puzzle is for early elementary-aged children, all of the hidden words can be found horizontally (left to right) or vertically (top to bottom). There are no diagonal, backwards, or upside-down words to make it beginner-friendly.

The puzzle has the words of 12 common winter clothing items to find and circle. They are hidden in an 11 X 13 grid of large, easy-to-read letters.

You can increase the difficulty level a little by using the lowercase version of the puzzle.
