Here is a free printable 1st grade winter word search.
The easy winter word search printable is a fun, relaxing, and educational activity for kids stuck inside on a cold winter’s day. It’s also a quiet activity to have on hand to give to early finishers in a classroom.
The puzzle can be printed with your choice of uppercase or lowercase letters. And you can decide whether to print the puzzle in black and white or to have the images in color.
Skill Level
This puzzle is perfect for 1st graders, and early elementary children who are new to word searches.
The easy beginner level word search has 12 winter words hidden in a 10 X 12 grid of uppercase (or lowercase) large print letters.
There are no diagonal, backwards, or upside down words. All the words can be found horizontally (from left to right) or vertically (from top to bottom).
Kids don’t need to be able to read to do this puzzle. They will be able to see what the word is as there is a picture above each word.
All the words to find are simple 3, 4, or 5 letter words.

A word search is a fun and enjoyable activity for kids, but it is also educational. While they are having fun doing a puzzle, they will also be working on their:

Answer Key
Sometimes kids might ask for help to find a word.
I know when my daughter was little, if she felt overwhelmed, she would ask for my help. Instead of showing her where the word was, I would sometimes narrow down her search a little. I might say something like: “Look in the bottom half.” Or I might tell her the direction the word is in.
