Skill Level
The crossword’s difficulty level is easy. It was designed for 2nd or 3rd graders, or kids around the ages of 7 or 8.
Each clue is written at a level appropriate for younger students, and the puzzle boxes are larger, making it easier for early writers to fill in their answers.
The words are mostly 2nd grade spelling words with a few 1st grade fall words thrown in. Of course, since fall is at the beginning of most school years, 2nd graders will not have learned to spell many of the 2nd grade words yet.
But crossword puzzles are great for that, as different letters are progressively added to the words, making it easier for kids to sound out and fill in the missing letters.
And it’s a great spelling review for third graders.
The puzzle has 17 words to solve.
